Bangalore Prepares For METALLICA
October 29, 2011To prevent a repeat of the Gurgaon fiasco from Friday, around 1,000 policemen have been deployed to maintain the crowd at tomorrow's (Sunday, October 30) METALLICA concert in Bangalore, India. The organizers expect a 20,000-strong crowd at Palace Grounds, where eager fans were seen milling around on Saturday night. The gates are scheduled to open at 3 p.m. and METALLICA will be on stage by 8 p.m.
According to NDTV, the organizers are being extra careful in Bangalore a three-layer barricade surrounds the make-shift stage. In Gurgaon, the barrier in front of the stage that kept falling had led to chaos.
"My friends are coming down from Chennai and Hyderabad. Just for this event. We are really looking forwards to this event and hoping it will be great fun minus any chaos," Jeel, an excited METALLICA fan, told NDTV.
A hardcore METALLICA fan, Kunal Chouhan, told DNAIndia.com from Delhi, "My four friends and I purchased the tickets for Bangalore online immediately after the Gurgaon gig was canceled."
METALLICA's show in Gurgaon (a suburb of Delhi) was scrapped due to "technical difficulties," which led to chaos and confusion. Over 25,000 people had gathered at the Leisure Valley Park in Gurgaon's Sector 29 to watch the concert. Less than two hours before the heavy metal band was to play, the organizers postponed the event to the following day. Then, after some angry fans trashed equipment, it was announced that the Delhi gig had been called off altogether.
